James F. Geiger Named Senior V.P. of Operations
Lehigh Valley, Pa. (Nov. 21, 2006) – James F. Geiger has been appointed to the position of Senior Vice President of Operations at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN).
Since joining LVHHN in 2001, Geiger has served as Vice President of Ambulatory Services at Lehigh Valley Hospital—17th & Chew and prior to that as administrator of residency practices. In his new role, Geiger will continue to manage the LVH—17th & Chew campus in Allentown and maintain oversight of ambulatory services and residency practices at 17th & Chew. Geiger’s new responsibilities will include Diagnostic Services, Support Services -- Engineering, Security, Housekeeping, and Food Service -- and Medical Records for LVHHN.
“Jim has done an outstanding job managing the 17th Street campus and the clinic practices that serve the uninsured and underinsured in our community,” said Stuart Paxton, LVHHN’s chief operating officer. Paxton said under Geiger’s leadership, the residency practices experienced a 27 percent increase in annual outpatient visits, while community enrollment in HealthChoices, a managed care enrollment plan, increased 69 percent. “Under his leadership numerous initiatives have been implemented to serve our culturally diverse community, which includes the establishment of Centro de Salud Latino-Americano as well as in-house medical interpretation services,” Paxton said.
Prior to joining LVHHN, Geiger served with the United States Air Force for 26 years, managing increasingly complex and wide ranging health services. Before retiring from the Air Force, he served as Chief Operating Officer for 10 acute care hospitals and clinics supporting the United States Air Forces in Europe.
